Why The Rich Live A Better Life

THE DIRTY ARMY: Nik, so Bon Jovi’s daughter got arrested after overdosing on heroin last week and she was charged that day for possession. But the very next day the charges were dropped for her and the guy that was arrested with her. Like how fair is that? I got caught with a weed stem in my car and had to pay for it by wasting 6 months of my life. Why do the rich always get away with everything?
Bon Jovi’s daughter is no Paulina Gretzky… that’s for sure.- nik

Maybe this is how she got out of it, and it had nothing to do with money.
Bongiovi, a student at Hamilton College, benefited from of a 2011 New York state law that prohibits prosecution of folks who OD or who call for help in a life-threatening, drug-related situation, according to the Utica Observer-Dispatch .”By law, they have immunity. I can’t prosecute them even if I wanted to,” Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara told the Observer-Dispatch, saying the quick decision to drop the charges had nothing to do with the case’s celebrity element.
thats a lie, no one does 6 months for a weed stem in America. The poster did something else. She probably got the charges dropped in exchange for some kind of rehab or drug help program.
It’s a law, nobody can be charged if help has been called to prevent ppl from ODing. I’m curious to know of the arrest still shows, I understand charges have been dropped but arrest records are still there even if charges are dropped. It’s actually F-up for her, I’m sure the cops know this law, now she has a arrest record even though nothing came of it.
Maybe try reading the comments before crying ‘life’s not fair! waaaaa!’ There is a law in that state that says you can’t get arrested for calling for help when someone is ODing. The law exists so that fellow drug users will call for help and not worry about getting arrested instead of leaving them there to OD and die. Try reading the full details of a situation before you call your mommy and cry about it.
the charges were dropped because police discovered the drugs while responding to an overdose. if charges were not dropped in a situation like this people would be much more likely to not call the cops resulting in more deaths, or so the logic goes. many colleges have the same policy when it comes to kids who get too drunk.
essentially it is amnesty for doing the right thing when someone is in a health crisis.
So? It’s nothing new that rich kids get off easy. My parents are wealthy and I grew up that way too (not as rich as Jovi obviously, but millionaires). I got busted for drinking and driving when I was 21 and the charges were dropped simply because my father and the judge were golfing buddies. Sorry, it’s the nature of the world. Money talks, get on the right side of it!
DA Strong! Xox
It is illegal to charge someone who overdoses or the person who calls it in. They shouldn’t have ever been filed in the first place
The charges were dropped because you can’t be charged when the police are called due to an OD. If you OD’d on weed and called ambulance, you wouldn’t have been charged for the stem. Nothing to do with being rich although yes, our lives are better than poor peoples in general.
You can’t OD on weed.
You Can on heroin and that is what they also found
No lessons learned this way. She’ll end up dead within a year.
What the poster fails to recognize, like most Americans or people for that matter, is they don’t lead better lives. It’s juvenile and ignorant to assume that because they have it so easy their lives are better.
I like to shed light on people like this because I know so many. It’s the same reason I comment on trust fund babies. I know the inside details. The bottom line is these people are bored. They are constantly depressed. They don’t live life. Life is about the struggles. It is not about the constant highs. Without the struggles, you don’t live. Getting addicted to drugs is not the struggle I speak of. It’s they struggle of fighting to survive. Trying to improve your position. Even if you never achieve your goals, you still lived.
People spend way too much time fantasizing about the lifestyles of the rich and famous. It’s a huge problem in our society. Record numbers of people sell their souls for a chance at the supposed good life. Unless you are an empty shallow person you will not find happiness this way. If it happens, great. If you are already happy, money will definitely enhance your happiness. But if you are basing your worth of life on your social status and material achievement you are one pathetic person.
Open your eyes people. Stop worshiping celebrities. These people are not better than you. Most are the lowest class of people who made some money. Don’t put them above yourselves.
stop whining! american justice is completely fair!!
