RIP Caleb Moore
THE DIRTY ARMY: Nik, today 25 year old Caleb Moore passed away after a crash he had on his snow mobile. It sucks to see such a young and gifted person die, especially doing something they love. What really sucks now that so many extreme sports have been pushed to the limit, that the tricks they are attempting will lead to more and more deaths.

All of these kinds of “extreme sports” need to be banned. What are our children watching!? Try being a mother, I cant even turn on the tv without seeing something either violent or unsafe. We need things such as this to be banned to provide a safer environment for our nations children.

But, I do question the sport of freestyle snowmobiling. Given the weight/design of the sled, the tricks are limited. Every top contender needs to have a backflip in their arsenal. Unfortunately, when you under-rotate (as is often the reason for failing this trick) the odds are extremely high that the sled’s momentum will put it right on top of the tumbling rider. There’s no way to get away from it, it’s too long + wide.
So given the likelihood of serious injury from the sled, I don’t see this sport lasting long unless technology can make the sleds more safe to fly with.

Sorry, but I never subscribed to the “died doing what he/she loved” feel good statement. Nobody wants to die, much less die while doing something they loved. I love sex. Doesn’t mean I want to have a massive coronary after blowing a load.
This is also the reason why snowmobiles weren’t designed for flipping upside down. Either way, dead is dead. RIP Mr. Moore.

two days after this crash they allow an aussie with 4 hours on a sled to attempt a jump and almost wipes out the crowd i think speedballing is a safer sport
His death is not confirmed. I live in the area and just watched the 5 o’clock news, the coroner CONFIRMED he still has a pulse. He has not been declared dead, regardless of what the families publicist said.
I really don’t think the video being posted is necessary. I didn’t watch it, and don’t want to. Anyone that would willingly watch someone lose their life by pushing that play button is sick.

These sports are awesome, there a lifestyle for me and my family, we all know this can happen and risk that is understood, the x games are a showcase of athletes skill and advancement, the risks are well known and consiquences are very real
