William Odis Bertelsman (born 1936) is a United States federal judge.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bertelsman received an A.B. from Xavier University of Ohio in 1958, and a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1961. He was in private practice in Newport, Kentucky from 1962 to 1979, also serving as a Captain in the United States Army from 1963 to 1964. He was a lecturer in the University of Cincinnati College of Law from 1965 to 1972, and an adjunct professor of law at the Salmon P. Chase College of Law beginning in 1989.
On October 11, 1979, Bertelsman was nominated by President Jimmy Carter to a new seat on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky created by 92 Stat. 1629. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on November 26, 1979, and received his commission the next day. He served as chief judge from 1991 to 1998, assuming senior status on February 1, 2001.

ok after reading this i have a better understanding of the case it has nothing to do with screwing her student.
Bertelsman has absolutely no regard for the Communications Decency Act. That’s why this whole thing has gone on as long as it has.
Actually I think this is probably for the best. It stinks for Nik but if there is a trial then there is a precedent for later cases. Where bloggers/site owners such as Nik can’t be held accountable for things they shouldn’t be held accountable for. It’s unfortunate that it was Nik and thedirty.com BUT it was going to be someone. Better that it’s someone with some money in the bank and who has an audience large enough to understand what he’s doing than some Joe Schmoe who can’t afford counsel and maybe 2 people know him.

The judge filed the order by the same defendant as used in all court proceedings. You are seeing the “The Dirt” because Eric had to amend the defendant name on the original case because “He” had it wrong.

I watched the whole Dateline “Crossing the Line” episode. It was shocking how she straight up LIES, and then later she admits that she was lying!!! Someone had commented on the last post about her…that she is a sociopath, and after watching that, it all makes sense. She is so full of herself. Her lawyer is CRAZY, and in interviews he comes off like an ambulance chaser with roid rage. I have no idea why this is even still happening to you. I hope your lawyer plans on using some of that Dateline episode as proof of how much of a lying pig she is. She definitely needs to pay your attorneys fees for this crap.

They will call you a bully and because of your actions the life of Sarah Jones has been destroyed… The court will completely ignore the fact she molested a 16 year old boy which was 100% the cause of her life coming apart. Agreed, it’s probably best for Shayne not to go. She’s the blonde personification of someone getting rich from “bullying” and exploiting others. At least, that’s how it may be perceived. Sarah Jones is disgusting. I didn’t follow the child molestor case closely because it was too sensationalized by the media and it made me sick. BUT after seeing her on Anaderson Cooper lying, spinning, and trying to control the entire segment by cutting you off repeatedly, it was obvious that we have a stage nine sociopath on our hands. She is cold, calculated, and is getting exactly what she wants from the world – attention. Lying to the public specifically to manipulate and shape opinion in regards to a legal matter should be punishable, just like perjury, breach of public trust (Lance Armstrong comes to mind as well). I love how she claimed she got a default judgment for $11 mill from you, when that was 100% false, just like when she said she never had sexual intercourse with her underage student was 100% false.Her attorney is an idiot, that’s like law 101- make sure you are suing the right person. One more thing thats important–what she is suing you for (posting about the football team, her ex, std’s, ect) is NOT what caused her to lose her job. Those posts did NOT ”defame” her or destroy her reputation. She still had her job at least a year after those posts were made. Just because her student’s said stuff about it, does not mean that it prevented her from working. Her molestation of her student is what caused her to lose her job and get banned from teaching. She brought it upon herself. She ”resigned” from teaching around the same time she was arrested for having sex with her student. That is the issue that caused her to be defamed, there is no proof that those other posts caused her any significant damage or losses. She did all that to herself! Make sure you make that point clear in court Nik.
